Bow View Lodge

Warm welcome, spacious room, super comfy bed, balcony with a nice view of the river, free parking in the centre of Banff. We enjoyed the location and being able to walk everywhere we wanted to in Banff - easy access to the Bow River trail, the legacy trail, canoe and bike hire, horse riding, free shuttle bus to the gondola and, of course, the wide selection of shops, restaurants and attractions in the town. It was also a bonus to be able to use the facilities at the sister hotel across the road and we liked the green incentive of $5 per night to spend in the Park Lodge restaurant if you opt out of room service, which worked for us during our three nights stay.

Next to the Bow River and walking path, very scenic. Close to the vintage train station (where most tours start and end) and the Brewster bus terminal for rides to Jasper and Calgary. Downtown business district with shops and restaurants is in walking distance. Use the muni bus system (Roam) to get around town and to sites outside of the downtown area. Day passes are cheap. Hotel is of the older variety and is OK. Room was very clean and the shower was fine. Lots of hot water. Mini frig is a plus, microwave down the hall in common area. Free coffee and tea in lobby. Bathroom is a bit tight. Adequate electrical outlets. WiFi is weak and is slow when many are on it. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. One elevator is not big but the hotel only has three floors. Could not get the window drapes to close.

We stayed here one night and it was a good stop over. The beds were very comfortable and we had good facilities in the room. There's no eating facilities in this hotel but the staff were quick to explain that the restaurants in the sister hotel (next door) were available to us. We ate at the Italian restaurant and it was fabulous. Great food and great service. All the staff were very friendly. A great location not far from the main streets and next to a river walk.

The staff are friendly and super helpful. The location is perfect for exploring downtown and the bus system makes it easy to go further out. For someone who loves trains, I did not mind the hourly sounds and I wouldn't give up the view of the river and pathway. It is quiet and peaceful otherwise.

Location is fantastic. So close to Banff town and all the sights you want to see in town. It’s the pick of the town in my opinion. Loved that you could open the sliding door for some fresh air (unlike others we stayed at in Canada). Also liked there was a lounge and small dining table in the room.
